Most people listening to one of the world's most popular deathcore artists would probably assume the lead singer was some satanic madman.

Well, the front man for Chelsea Grin and Darko - Tom Barber - is about to break that perception.

As one of the few people in his genre who stood up early and publicly against the covid insanity, Tom is the very kind of outlier you would expect to deviate from the norm.

In fact, during the 2020 era of the pandemic, with all hopes of touring and making money with his band on the road for the foreseeable future, he and a friend started their side project - Darko - by recording separate tracks remotely.

Tom goes into detail about not only how the music industry distanced themselves from him, but how he received countless death threats online and was almost universally shunned while the world was deep in the throws of pandemic pandemonium.

This venomous article below speaks to exactly the kind of vitriol he received from all directions:

When I got into the mind of the man, though, what I found was a highly conscious and openminded person who’s spent many years looking behind the veil of society.

This episode is one that goes down many of my favorite rabbit holes including

  • Consciousness

  • Meditation

  • Manifesting

  • Alien entities

The last of which is maybe the most mind blowing portion of the whole thing! Having recently stayed with mutual friend and guest of the podcast - Ryan Bledsoe - at the famous Bledsoe ranch; Tom witnessed life changing experiences before his very eyes that you’ve got to hear to appreciate.

Hi Drew ~ enjoyed your podcast today. I have to admit it took me all day to listen to it. I had to break it up in segments so my old English teacher ears could take the colorful language. hee hee! Just kidding you! ( I know a 76 year old is not your target audience -- but I did live during the days when the song "Age of Aquarius" was first introduced :) Do not disregard us old folks -- we get that past trauma has influenced us. Philosophers like Decartes & Voltaire have been questioning everything as far back as the 17th C Age of Enlightenment . It seems as if we go in cycles -- progressing each time as we go. Oh my, the 1970's hated "the man" too. I've always wondered if there are really any original ideas left -- or are they just old ideas presented with new words & modern messaging (that fits the times.) You guys are definitely the new Jedi that are going to help today's people -- no matter what words you use. Thanks, ~Jan
