A View From The Freedom Movement In Kamloops, BC From A Childhood Friend
British Columbia was one of the hardest hit provinces in Canada over the pandemic.
Being the only province with an NDP government, the socialist style party were quick and heavy handed in their restrictions.
Heather Brown, someone I grew up with in my home city of Kamloops, BC, brings her perspective to the show. Including the failure of the local hospital when her father took ill with covid.
Her father, Dale, suffers from COPD (a chronic inflammatory lung disease) and rheumatoid arthritis. Both are confounding factors when dealing with a covid-19 infection and wound up putting him in the local hospital on oxygen.
Through Heather’s harrowing efforts, and the grace of God, they were able to bring him out of the worst of it with the aid of vital medicines and vitamins that the hospital wouldn’t provide him.
Even being unvaccinated, Dale’s case showed the importance of all the in-patient and out-patient care options that physicians at large were prevented or persuaded from using that could have saved countless lives during a time when the vaccine was considered the end-all solution.
Before the whole ordeal with her father, Heather became instrumental in the local pushback against mandates, restrictions and lockdowns. Joining a local group called Freedom Kamloops.
Joining and publicly espousing freedom movements in Canada from 2020 onward certainly comes with it’s share of social ostracization. Even within her own family, lines were drawn.
But choosing the uncomfortable truth over the safe lie is never a position that comes with acceptance. And Heather full heartedly accepted the slings and arrows that were bound to be slung her way with joy. Knowing that the suffering is worth it in the end.
She continues on today in full anticipation for a return of BC’s insanity with masks and mandates in the fall.
But, this time, she's more hopeful for a stronger people's movement against the governmental overreach they've are endured.
